The 2024 Tõutsi Fly-in marks a significant milestone in the history of our aeroclub. This summer, pilots and enthusiasts didn’t just gather to celebrate the freedom of flight—they witnessed and touched the next level of our airfield’s development.
A Refined Runway and Expanded Clearances The biggest technical highlight of the 2024 event was the thorough upgrade of the airfield. Thanks to extensive labor, the Tõutsi runway has been extended, providing safer and more comfortable landings for larger and faster aircraft. Even more critical was the work done at the runway thresholds—the overgrowth and brush have been cleared, opening up the approach paths and offering pilots significantly better visibility and safety margins. These improvements have made Tõutsi an even more inviting and professional destination for the entire Estonian aviation community.
Special Guest from France: Gerard Fevrier The crown jewel of this year’s event was undoubtedly its international dimension. Tõutsi was visited by the legendary French pilot and aviation journalist Gerard Fevrier. A man whose life has been spent in the sky and who has influenced European aviation culture for decades through his writing and flight experience, found his way to the rolling hills of South Estonia.
Fevrier’s presence was more than just a visit; it was an acknowledgment of Tõutsi Aeroclub’s dedication and spirit. In the most emotional part of the event, Gerard Fevrier was officially named an Honorary Member of the Tõutsi Aeroclub. This title symbolizes the borderless nature of aviation and a friendship that reaches from Estonia directly to the heart of European flight culture.
The Power of Community Fly-in 2024 proved once again that Tõutsi is a place where vision meets execution. Whether it’s clearing brush to extend the runway or hosting world-class aviation figures, it is driven by the collective passion of our members. After the official flights, everyone gathered by the newly improved runway to enjoy the summer evening, discuss the new airfield characteristics, and listen to Gerard Fevrier’s captivating tales from the sky.
We thank everyone who participated in Fly-in 2024 and helped write the next chapter in the Tõutsi story!
